APPLICATION DEADLINE REMINDER
Applications for January 15th should be in Guidance now.
SENIORS-College Decisions
As you begin to hear from your colleges, please be sure to let your Counselor know.
We want to know what is happening.
Juniors-Score Report Plus from the PSAT testing in October 2008, were mailed out on December 11th. On December 17th and 18th the Guidance Counselors will meet in Chemistry classes with students who have taken the PSAT. Juniors who are not in Chemistry will meet individually with their counselors. Students will be given their test booklets at that time and an explanation of how to understand and use their test results.
The scores are reported as two digit numbers (20 – 80), which are comparable to the three digit score of the SAT (200 - 800). The Score Report Plus reports the three areas of the test: Critical Reading, Math and Writing Skills. A chart is provided under each section numbering the questions, showing the correct answers, the student’s answers and the difficulty of the questions. Further explanation of the report is helpful and therefore it is important for students to meet with the counselors. Students should bring their Score Report Plus with them to Chemistry next week so it is available during the presentation. Go to the link below for PSAT information on Collegeboard:
If you have any questions regarding the PSAT please call the Guidance office at 781-279-3810, ext 322. |
Once again this year we are teaming with SUMMIT Educational Group to offer a free, full-length practice SAT for juniors. After final exams are finished on January
27th, students will have the opportunity to take a practice SAT in the cafeteria. SUMMIT will provide the test and scoring at no charge. Parents and students are invited to an evening presentation on Wednesday, February 4th at 7:00 pm to receive the results and hear about an SAT prep course being offered by SUMMIT at Stoneham High School beginning in February, 2008. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and we hope many of them will take advantage of it.
PLEASE NOTE: Information on how to register for the test will be mailed home in late December from SUMMIT Educational. |
